Saint Andrew
(charcoal on paper, 50x70cm, wooden frame). It is a cast study after François Duquesnoy's (1597-1643) Vatican sculpture. I found the twirling of the saint's beard in the original quite extraordinary, giving this saturnesque portrait an airy weightlessness and grace.
