Common kingfisher

(watercolour on paper, 36 x 36cm, wooden frame ) I could sit for hours and watch these marvelous birds on long summer days by the river. Known for their dazzling blue and orange plumage, the European kingfishers (Alcedo atthis) often perch quietly beside rivers and streams before darting swiftly into the water to catch small fish.
